James Henderson - UK Investment Trusts

James Henderson is Director of UK Investment Trusts and a Fund Manager at Janus Henderson Investors, a position he has held as part of the Henderson team since 2003. He joined Henderson in 1983 as a trainee fund manager and, during his tenure with the firm, has been successfully managing a number of investment trusts since 1990 including Lowland Investment Trust; Henderson Opportunities Trust and Law Debenture.  James also manages Henderson UK Equity Income & Growth Fund.  Prior to joining Henderson he was an accountant trainee at Binder Hamlyn.


James graduated with an MA (Hons) in economics from Cambridge University and has 35 years of financial industry experience.

Judith MacKenzie - Downing LLP

Judith MacKenzie is Partner at Downing, responsible for Small Company quoted investments within the Downing funds. Downing has c. £500m under management in small UK unquoted and quoted companies. Prior to joining Downing Judith was Partner at Acuity Capital LLP with a specific responsibility for AIM-quoted VCT and IHT investments and a small-cap activist fund. She also spent six years as a senior investment manager with Aberdeen Asset Management Growth Capital as co Fund Manager of the 5 Aberdeen VCTs, again focusing on for AIM, as well as a portfolio of private equity technology and media investments.

Paul Kavanagh - Patronus Partners Ltd

Paul joined Killik & Co in 1993, becoming Partner the following year and enjoyed 22 years with the firm helping to establish it as a well-known and significant financial services provider to the retail investor. At the end of 2014 Paul retired from Killik & Co, along with two other long term Partners to pursue a new ambition, establishing a financial services firm, Patronus Partners Ltd. Focus will be on the more specialised areas of investing such as Managed index trading, CFDs/Spreads through to equity investments and special situations.  Paul has been an active media contributor for almost twenty years, writing guest press articles for the Sunday Times over six years and frequently contributes to business on BBC Radio 4 Today, Radio 5, CNBC, ITV and Sky.

Peter Ashworth - Stockdale Securities

Peter joined the firm in December 2015, having previously been an analyst at Charles Stanley Securities and Teather & Greenwood.  He has considerable experience as a smaller companies’ analyst, focused upon full list and AIM companies.

Philip Rodrigs - River and Mercantile Asset Management

Philip is portfolio manager of the Investec UK Smaller Companies Fund. He started his career at Invesco before moving to T. Rowe Price as a Pan European Associate analyst specialising in small and mid cap stocks. He joined Investec Asset Management in 2005. He is also an integral part of the Investec 4Factor UK Equity team, where he specialises in analysing the technology sector.

Philip Secrett - Grant Thornton

Philip is a Corporate Finance partner at Grant Thornton UK LLP. He is a chartered accountant, an authorised Nominated Adviser and full list Sponsor with 16 years experience providing advice on a wide range of quoted public company transactions including on AIM and the Official List, acquisitions and disposals, reverse takeovers and public company takeovers. He is a specialist in structuring and listing closed-end funds having advised over 50 transactions with a value of over US$6 billion. Philip is Chairman of the London Stock Exchange AIM Advisory Group and advises the Exchange on all matters affecting the operation and regulation of AIM.

Sid joined Hargreave Hale in 2007 to work alongside Giles Hargreave on the Marlborough Special Situations Fund.

In 2011, Sid designed and launched the Marlborough Multi Cap Income Fund, growing the fund to £1bn by the end of 2014.

The Fund was ranked No 1 (over 3 years) in the UK Equity Income sector over the corresponding period.

Prior to Hargreave Hale, Sid was an analyst at DSP for small and mid-cap companies across Europe (inc UK).
